On 4th March, Shrove Tuesday, the Plaisterers entered a team in the 21st Interlivery Annual Pancake Race, organised by the Poulters. Bright sunshine and warm conditions welcomed us to Guildhall Yard, in stark contrast to last year when rain stopped play!
Three members, Stephen Gilbert, Louise Laprun and Phillip 'Fozzie' Foster, joined the Master to make up the Plaisterers team, and while all ran well, unfortunately this year we did not make the finals. Deep discussions about how to take the turn on the course and the best tossing technique were had before each race, but the surprise was the size and weight of the pan!
It was good to see Dot, (or was it Dab?) back in action after a three-year rest, although I suspect Fozzie might have thought it not the best running costume. No injuries, not even a twisted sock this year for our team, although the scars of not making the finals might take a while to heal!
It was good to see a few other Plaisterers come and support, and all joined the team afterwards in the Crypt for a light lunch and detailed dissection of techniques.
